i made my shorts today (finally). they turned out pretty good. though the stitching is not totally straight, i'm pretty happy with them and will definitely use them for exercising (they're a bit short for everyday wear...). all in all, making them myself was worth it. i was going to buy some from american apparel (just plain gym shorts) but when i went to buy them they were $40... which i thought was a bit ridiculous. just a bit. so my fabric was $5 (i bought about twice as much as needed, unintentionally) and the elastic was $.50 or something. so if you only count the fabric i used, the shorts cost about $3 and 5 hours of "labour" (including cutting the pattern, figuring out how to work the stupid bobbin refiller abilities of the machine, and all that stupid stuff, plus actually making it).
so yeah. although sewing clothes is sometimes actually more expensive than buying, sometimes it's worth it to make.
and that's my moral of the day.

sorry this post is disproportionate and probably badly worded. quite sleepy and have done too much seam ripping for one night (the first sign things were going wrong was when i realized i sewed the leg shut...)
sorry also that i was really cranky/short tempered on thursday. stress stress stress and i still am because things just don't seem to fit. seeing advisor on monday. i had a good time seeing you guys even if the same isn't true for all of you :\
