What's with Oliver's family being born on holidays? Weirdness. And what Chels said, you have us, Ann! Sure, it's not going to be totally the same (ie. Maybe Lily won't let you snuggle with her) but it's almost! Also, maybe Lily will let you snuggle with her... also, what "further trips" might you be saving up for?

Lily, I have a stuffed bear thing I'd like to donate to that Toy Drive thing going on at UBC but I don't know where to go to drop it off (and also, they don't have office hours posted for this week on the facebook page). Wanna help me with directions? Or I guess anyone who goes to UBC, really.

Thanks, Chels. Well, my mom is going with me to my audition, though I'm fairly confident I would be able to maneouver my way around the city (I checked the bus lines and all the streets). It's a little more than a week away... I'm not really sure what to feel. (By the way, the Bay still hasn't called me back. I don't know what's going on... I'm excited about Van Dusen though!)

I got my official copy of my short film (from film school) on a disk with everyone else's short films on Friday and on the cover is a photo still from my film! Haha... I don't know if they personalized each one for the student, but that would take a while, right? I think it's funny they put mine up.

I kinda want to do something for my birthday, or at least get all of us together this month, after everyone's done exams and whatnot. When would be a good day (approx.)? (ie. when does everyone finish stuff and has time to hang out?) Also, is there anything you guys might wanna do? Last year was fun... haha.

so, to all: aaron and i got jobs at van deusen garden's festival of lights at the concession stand (i am sooooo stoked!). we get to sell hot chocolate and food and KETTLE CORN!!! and i also got a call from the bay oakridge today and i got a job there too! i am so crazily excited right now... i've been really stressed this whole term because of co-op and whatnot, but now that i have a co-op job and have my housing arrangements somewhat figured out and my seasonal jobs are all ready to go so i'm just so totally elated.

lily and ann, when are your exams over? and joanne, when are you leaving, again? (the 18th?)

ps- ann, if you read this, i posted on the blog way back when and i don't know if you saw it, but i am going away to the okanagan for four months starting in january (for co-op). my (mild) annoyance was probably stemming from the fact that you were complaning about being "alone" even though you are not really going to be at all and i will soon be leaving everyone i love the most for the next four months. and it totally kills me and everytime dan and i talk about the new year i start bawling because i won't be back until may, and maybe not even then (depending on where i get a job during the summer, i might not be back to vancouver until august/september!) and, aside from a random girl i met at school (who is very nice though i don't really know her...) i really am going alone... without my parents, siblings, friends, or dan. i see dan every day now (and next month is our three year anniversary) but once i leave, i won't see him until reading break at the earliest. so not to make your feelings invalid or anything, ann, but this christmas, although you may be lonely (and understandably so), you are hardly alone. (you've got us!!!)

sorry i didn't call you joanne, i actually had no idea you were going anywhere. but wherever you're going hope you have a good flight/trip :)

so it turns out that i'll be spending christmas alone..well not totally alone, i still have my family and you guys, i meant just without oliver. he made a snap decision of going back to peru for most of december to visit his family. which i fully support, it's hard not to since christmas is a big deal for his family since they're catholic, and he has not been back for 5 years, and his mother's birthday is also on christmas..how crazy is that? and i don't want to be so selfish as to say "no, you may only spend christmas with me, wahh" :p but it still sucks though..

anyhoo, i don't know how timely this advice is aaron, but i think it would be best to forget kem. i'm sure i said that to you at some point already. you guys broke up for a reason, and i think giving into these moments of weakness (missing him), even if he agrees to give it another shot, doesn't mean you'll be happy again with him. there are always more fish in the sea, right? you just need to go fishing more, ya know what i mean? ;)

i miss you guys. my exams end on the 12th and i plan to work my ass off this winter to save up money for futher trips. thats all for now.

On a random note - I really want some cereal right now.

Apparently some airline in Canada will give two seats to fat people with no extra charge.  When I said that, some people went "OMG THAT'S NOT FAIR"  Why the hell would you complain if someone was so fat that people felt bad enough to give one seat for free??  So not looking forward to my 12hr flight =(  I'm flying aloone.

Today has been such a slap in the face

anyhows, aarie, sorry but the tuesdays don't work for me (well one was yesterday so...) because i have an exam the day after. i can do dec 5th 8pm or anytime dec 6th (so long as i don't get a job or do not have to work if i do get a job... dec 5th is safer i guess). don't know if you wanted to see it earlier or what, but let me know!

awww...Aaron, it's okay to miss Kem. Have you tried to talk to him? I know you said that he doesn't seem to want to talk to you but if it's bothering you, then maybe you should try again. I don't know about the show...i'll be busy studying so i'm going to say no. I am also in the process of studying for my Pharm practical exam which is on Thurs. Then after that, i have to do an FNH assignment due on friday.

LAST WEEK OF SCHOOL....until finals!
I finished CHEM LAB FINALLY! I just hope i pass because i've been doing badly on the assignments but yeah.

Without You

Do you ever have a song (possibly more) where, whenever you hear it, it makes you cry? I've got a bunch of those, but I only really listen to those when I'm in the mood. There's one from the movie Rent called "Without You" (if anyone has seen it) that totally gets me every time. And for the past couple days I've been feeling a bit sad and thinking about Kem (I even asked my mom what she thought about him), and when I listened to that song today while waiting for the bus at Broadway station... well, I did start sorta crying in public. But! It really wasn't a big deal because all I was facing were cars and it's not like I was sobbing uncontrolably... though I did have to surpress the sobs. Sigh... would it be so bad that I try to talk to Kem again? Then again, he doesn't seem to want to talk to me.

Also to answer your question, I think I'll skip Twilight. All the fangirls for that movie get kind of annoying after a while, and apparently Stephanie Meyer (the author) is a Mormon... not that being Mormon is bad but that they're also semi-responsible (maybe more?) for the whole Prop 8 thing getting passed in the US -- which doesn't really affect what I think about her (I didn't really think anything of her until now) but I've read a few comments on the fact that she's Mormon and some people don't like her for it. Hmm.

Oh, and the fact that the screenwriter also wrote Step Up (which, sadly, I saw with Bekki) sketches me out about whether or not she really thinks she knows teenagers.

Sigh... have fun studying and good luck on your exams. We should have a get-together soon in December after exams, eh?

i saw a similar article related to same thing on MSN.ca. Everything seems soooo ridiculous!! Like with the church from the states coming to canada. You truly wonder what people are NOT capable of. I mean, people can sink low but still, incidents like the one you presented makes me realize that there is no limit to how low....

Anyways, BE HAPPY and take this as a lesson of what not to do (which is common sense).

i know everyone wants to stay "young at heart" and nurture their inner child or whatever, but seriously, people need to know when to stop being stupid and use their common sense. we need to remind ourselves that it is not okay to treat other people like crap, because we all affect each other and have to take responsibility when we screw up.

i just got an email from my coordinator (well, not just now but half an hour ago or something) and i got a job offer for agriculture and agrifood canada in summerland (okanagan)!!!

i also went to a job fair earlier today (with aaron) and got a job offer for sales associate at the bay downtown!

i'm so... in shock still... what to do?

Wow. That's pretty ridiculous. I've seen (and own) the movie version of the Laramie Project, as well as done a bit of research on the Westboro Baptist Church, so what they're doing isn't really surprising, except that they would come all to the way to Vancouver, to a modest little cafe (I've also been to the Havanah Restaurant on Commercial Drive) and protest about something so absurd... pretty much all of the members of the WBC are from the same family, so it's really a stupid cult.

On that note, 1) does anyone want to go to the rally they're planning? 2) does anyone want to see the Laramie Project (the movie)? and 3) does anyone want to go see the play? I've always wanted to. It was put on by Lord Byng maybe 2 years ago, but I didn't get the chance to see it.

As for the second thing, that was pretty outrageous as well. I wish someone would punch that asshole in the face. I guess it goes to show that there still will be homophobia in our country, despite how progressive we're presented as (compared to the US, perhaps).

Hmm, Chels. You seem to be reading a lot into gay-related stuff lately, eh? That's a good thing, btw.

The thing that bothers me a lot is how, in that article, the director believes the WBC is non-violent, yet they shout slurs and obscenities at people and wave hateful things around. It may not be physical, but it's still not good to hear. It's pretty much mentally damaging, and no one needs to hear that kind of stuff. Those people can go die for all I care, and that's something I really don't say.

Hmm, that's kinda scary. I don't know how whipping each other with belts escalates to a friggin' knife fight, but I guess boys will be boys.

Nothing much to update on. I pretty have all of my scholarship application done (did I tell you guys about that?). I'm going back to Point Grey to visit Ms. Comfort on Wednesday to see if this swing ditty I composed is accurately transcribed. After that, it'll be sent in and then it's hoping time...

I also checked out the Greyhound buses to Seattle, which is where my audition is going to be held (in less than one month! Omg.) The only one that actually arrives before my audition starts leaves at 5:50 in the morning... ugh. Terrible. And then there's the addition of busing through a foreign city after getting off the bus, but I think I have that figured out as well. We shall see...

Does anyone want to help me prepare for my audition? They're also going to be interviewing me after I play stuff, and I find I stumble on my words a lot. Maybe if someone had some time this weekend or the next one? And then we can play some games after or something, haha.

sorry aarie, i forgot to mention that lily and i "planned" to meet everyone at metro. since lily and i will be on campus, it will be easy for us to bus to the sky train station (and i think easy for ann too? and joanne?). and i KNOW you all don't have afternoon/evening stuff on fridays (at least usually) because you all went to joanne's birthday thing!!!

my class ends at 3pm and i can meet lily (and joanne?) on campus and we can bus from there. s0... say... 345pm or 4pm at metro? does that work for everyone? then i was thinking when we get tired we can go to aaron's house for some fun times :)

actually, if we get things organized soon enough (ie, now) and i know exactly when we're going, i can ask dan if he can get the car and then we (ie, everyone other than aaron) won't have to bus home in the wee hours (10pm... haha, jk. maybe 1130pm). the plan would then be, lily and i (and joanne?) go to dan's house after my class and then he drives to aaron's house and then we bus to metro and meet ann. unless ann goes to aaron's house too. we can pick you up, ann, if you're gonna be at home at that time.

Okay, yeah, so Obama got elected. Was anyone really surprised though?

I was surprised that Proposition 8 got through (Prop 8 is the bill bans same-sex marriage in California, even though it was already passed into law a few months ago, and the definition of marriage as a man + woman is written into the Constitution). Considering all the high profile companies (ie. Apple) and celebrities (ie. Brad Pitt) who have donated against the ban, not to mention several ads, it still got passed. I'm not sure on the numbers, but it's a really big disappointment; it's like saying, "Oh, you guys are equal... just kidding!". I guess we're pretty lucky that we have it here in Canada (even in red-neck Alberta).

Charles? Keuny and Charles are two quite different names. Apparently, he told me that Min told him that you want to meet him (hopefully that made sense). No, I have no problem with people knowing about me + Kem; I was just trying to figure out who told him (apparently it was his friend from school -- I think it's the other guy in the School of Music I met online; pretty much has to be).

And hey, according to Kem (who I still haven't talked to but oh well), a lot of guys in the School of Music are gay, so hmm. Good luck with the job, Chels!

just finished sending the interviewer a thank you note. geez when i looked online on what to write in a thank you note, their suggestions were all like... well, basically just like a cover letter that had "i met you already, thank you" incorporated into it. so bleh. so i wrote my own thank you note from my heart.

the job actually does sound even better when i talked to the interviewer... i am crossing my fingers for a miracle... but at the same time, (continuing on with the idioms) i would not say i am holding my breath. thanks ann and lily for the encouraging texts, btw. but yeah, i sucked at half the questions... though i did try my best.

anyhow, i talked to lily and she and i are free to meet IF WE CAN ACTUALLY SET A DATE AND STICK TO IT! waaaahh.

yeah, i know who keuny (aka charles) is. he's min's friend, she texted me about it a couple days ago..man it seems like news travels fast. and in case you were wondering aaron, i told min that you had a boyfriend and that he didn't want to come out. i told her because i didn't think you would have any objections to people knowing, and that she is one of my closest friends i would trust that she wouldn't use the information in a bad way (i dunno how she would). let me know if you're not comfortable with it.
i hope everything went well with the interview chels. being a product development technician sounds like alot of fun. it sounds like a position where you'll get to taste alot of things, just like your cool nutrition class that i went to once.
anyhoo i have to write peer reviews for people's papers in my tutorial. this one girl's paper is really bad but i don't want to be too overly critical, cause we have to grade them and whatever we give is gonna be worth 15% of their grade.

Ann, is your friend Min's name Won Min? If so, does she have a friend named Keun, possibly Keuny? Because I've been exchanging messages with this guy online, who saw my video for "Almost Here" (one of the one's you recorded on your camera for me) and he showed it to his friend who said it was her "wife's" best friend (me), and that she's (Ann) is probably the one filming. If that's the ipod-sleeping Min that I know, then, I guess it's this weird circle of knowingness.

Continuing with the weirdness, Keun(y) goes to UBC, in the School of Music, doing a thing in piano performance, which is pretty hard, by the way. I asked if he knew Kem, and told him our history together. He replied,

so you went out with kem eh? yea he's a nice conductor...nice singer too...i heard that he was with someone but they broke up cuz he was too stuck in the closet and will be....i guess hm maybe its you....

I know I told him about us before, but he says, "I heard". If he heard it from someone, I don't know who. This guy is apparently in his first year, so I don't know how many people he really knows, but if someone's been gossipping about us, I'm not really sure who it would be. I sort of talked to one other guy online who also happened to go to UBC in music (they're all gay, it seems. Jeez) and told him a little bit about Kem and me, and I don't think any of you guys would randomly go around spreading that. And Kem doesn't seem to ever want to tell anyone anything, so he wouldn't... or would he? I dunno... I just find it kind of hard to believe.

Seeing as how Saturday and Sunday were a bust last week, how about this week? What's everybody's schedule like for this coming weekend?

GOOD JOB CHELS! I'm busy up until tuesday but if you come to the starbucks below my apartment, i'll give you mock interviews. I can do it on Sunday at noon or something. I don't mind helping you, but i do mind commuting (not trying to be a dink). It's just that i don't want to waste time commuting because i have so much to do. I hope that works out for you.

interview update!

okay guys, i'm somewhat even more excited now! i was kind of bummed that i didn't get an interview for this research position i applied for at bc children's hospital, but today i found an email in my inbox from co-op people and i got an interview with this food development! which is great because it's directly related to my field of study (unlike most of the jobs i applied for... which is fine). it's an interview for a product development technician! i'm so excited... but unlike last time, i'm really scared too. for the BCIT interview, i was only excited. i think it's because it was my first interview, but didn't necessarily think the job was best suited to me. but this is such a great job opportunity, i'm afraid to screw it up!

hmm... that's it. i can't think of anything else to say (i can't even think of anything else to think of...) at the moment. just thought i would update you guys on my "progress."

does anyone have time to mock interview me before tuesday?
