It's been about... oh, 11 years or so since I've actually acted in some sort of production (and the last time was for my that Christmas play in Grade 6, although on a sidenote, a year before that, I was in my class production of "Who's in Rabbit's House?" and I did a pretty bang up job there), and it's not that I'm not interested in acting, I just think like a writer.
That being said, I had my first audition for a acting role today.
Haha, yeah, I know. Pretty random, eh? I found an ad on craigslist (under the tv/film category. I sometimes look there to see if there might be writing jobs or anything interesting) for a casting call for a short film. A lot of the short film stuff that I read on craigslist isn't very interesting or they don't apply to me (ie. I'm not what they're looking for) but then I saw this one that was somewhat relevant to me:
Synopsis:
Not wanting to attend his own Living Funeral, a Man chooses to spend his
time outside in the cemetery, until a strange Woman, who has experienced loss of
her own, helps him make a decision.
MAN (mid 20's)
A very intelligent person, with a strong future, all of it seems to have left him
though since he has discovered he is dying. He has chosen to replace it with
sarcasm and seclusion. He has a great family, that just wants to see him happy
again, but with the recent death of his boyfriend, everything is starting to become
too real.
After I read it, I wanted to be a part of the film... somehow. I figured I might as well try out for the part. So I sent an e-mail to the listing and got some info and went in this afternoon to do it.
Even though I had memorized the short part of the script that I was given, I was still nervous, since I hadn't done an acting audition since elementary school. But it went alright, I think. Definitely wasn't a disaster, I don't think. The director/writer also went to VFS so we bonded on that level. Hopefully, I impressed enough to get the gig, and if not, it was fun. I'll find out in a couple days. Apparently about 20 people auditioned today, so I'm not going to get confident about it. I'm sure other people have actually acted in stuff and have real experience compared to me. Still, it would be so awesome if I did get that part.
Anyhoo, that was the highlight of my day. Omg! Yay! Chels, you're coming back, and it's not going to be a surprise! Hurrah! So you're coming back here not this last weekend in Feb. but next next weekend, right? Yeah, hopefully you'll be able to get people to come to games night, unlike me trying unsuccessfully.
Only one more week till I hear back from Berklee. I'm not sure what to feel.
